HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 2009.03.05 - 9838February 5, 2009 MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION -A 0)9026 BY: Public Services Committee, Jeff Potter -, Charperson IN RE: SHERIFF'S OFFICE - USE OF DONATED VEHICLE FOR AUTOMOBILE THEFT PREVENTION TEAM To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladles and ',Ilentiemen: WHEREAS by Miscellanea.is "Aesclution O226 the Board of Commissioners authorized the FY 2009 Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Grant Acceptance; and WHEREAS the Sheriff is in charge of the team which includes Waterford, Haze: Park, Farmington Hills, West ?loomfield Township Police Departments ard the Wayne County -Sheriff's C.tfioe; and,• WHEREAS the GE:CO lnaurance Company has donated a v,ehicle to the Automobile Theft Prevention Team for use in vailous undercover' operations; and WHEREAS vehicle is d 19'3'9 Jeep Cherokee; and WHEREAS the N.itomobil.? Theft reventon Team has a need for such a vehicle; and WHEREAS the Sheriff has agreed to usefo .r-felture money to cover any minimum expenses for laid vehicle; and WHEREAS the vehicle would not be replaced except by another donated vehicle and would be assigned to the Sheriff's Office Automobile Theft Prevention Team for a bait vehicle, not to be driven on a daily basis; and WHEREAS this equipmeni will be used by the Sheriff's Office to enhance law enforcement effcrts in compliance with state law; and WHEREAS the estimated expenses are $2,0C. NOW THEREFORE DE IT ":=E5OLVED that the Oakiand County Board of Commissioners authorizes the ase of $2,50C from the Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Enhancement A...:uount f41C1C0-4033101-222430) to fund the expenses for this donated vehicle. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that one (1) donated vehicle be added to the Sheriff's Office Departmental vehicle fleet Chairperson, on benif of the Public ::_ervices Committee, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution. FISCAL NOTE (MISC. #09026) March 5, 2009 BY: Finance Committee, Tom Middleton, Chairperson IN RE: SHERIFF'S OFFICE — USE OF DONATED VEHICLE FOR AUTOMOBILE THEFT PREVENTION TEAM To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: Pursuant to Rule XII-C of this Board, the Finance Committee has reviewed the above referenced resolution and finds: 1. The GEICO Insurance Company has donated a 1999 Jeep Cherokee to the Oakland County Sheriffs Department for use in the Automobile Theft Prevention Authority (ATPA) program to enhance law enforcement efforts. 2. The Sheriff has agreed to accept this donated vehicle and the one time acquisition cost of $2,500. 3. The vehicle will be added to the Sheriff's Office Departmental vehicle fleet; to be used in undercover activities over the remaining life of this vehicle; upon retirement this vehicle will not be replaced. 4. Funding of $2,500 for operating cost is available in the Sheriffs forfeiture account 10100- 4030101-112580-222430 Law Enforcement Enhancement Funds. 5, The County agrees to accept this donation; no budget amendment is required to recognize the donation because the value of the vehicle is $4,000 and is below the $5,000 capitalization threshold. 6. A budget amendment is recommended to the FY 2009 budget as follows: GENERAL FUND #10100 FY 2009 Revenues 4030101-112580-670285 Enhancement Funds $2,500 Total Revenues $2,500 Expenditures 4030901-116270-730646 Equipment Maintenance $2,500 Total Expenditures $2,500 FINANCE COMMITTEE FINANCE COMMITTEE Motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote with Gingen, Zack and Coulter absent.
