May 7, 2009 MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #09103 BY: Public Services Committee. Jeff Potter, Chairperson IN RE: SHERIFF'S OFFICE — FISCAL YEAR 2009 HIGHWAY SAFETY CHALLENGE AWARD GRANT ACCEPTANCE To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the Sheriff's Office applied to the Michigan State Police, Office of Highway Safety Planning. for $3.000 in grant funding to purchase law enforcement equipment related to highway safety; at a total cost of $3,000: and WHEREAS the most recent award of this grant was for FY 2006 in the amount of $5,000; and WHEREAS the grant funding period for this grant is October 1• 2008 through September 30. 2009: and WHEREAS the Michigan State Police has awarded Oakland County with a grant in the amount of 53.000; and WHEREAS no County grant matching funds are required to accept this grant nor to purchase the equipment: anc WHEREAS the acceptance of this grant does not oPligate the County to any future commitment; and WHEREAS the continuation of this program is contingent upon future levels of grant funding. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of cipplu'VeS the Fiscal Year 2009 Highway Safety Challenge Award Grant from the Michigan State Police in the amount of 53.000 and that the Board Chairperson, on behalf of the County of Oakland, is authorized to execute said agreement as attached. This grant is approved with the following condition(s): 1. Funding is contingent upon the availability of U.S. Department of Transportation Highway Safety Funds. 2. A grant orientation conducted by OHSP is mandatory for all grant project directors. 3. Please contact your regional coordinator to schedule an orientation and on-line report training via telephone. 4. Any grant revision request that adds or deletes objectives and/or activities must have OHSP approval. Electronic progress and financial reports are due in the same quarter that the purchases are made but no later than October 30, 2009. The progress report must include a description of the equipment purchased and any information on activities generated as a result of the purchase. Copies of newspaper articles and/or press announcements are also requested. You may electronically attach progress and/or financial support documentation under the attachment section of the progress report. If faxing or mailing documentation please include the above grant number on any paperwork. It is not necessary to send a paper copy of any information that has been electronically submitted. Failure to comply with the 'Grant Management Requirements or the conditions set forth in this approval letter may result in the delay of reimbursement or disallowance of reported costs. A copy of the final approved grant can be obtained from the MAGIC website under the "management activities section," then select the "View a PDF of this application" line If your reporting entity receives more than $500,000 a year in federal funds, you must report the amounts received on your audited financial statements, along with the appropriate CFDA number (enclosed).
